Mille Miglia

The Mille Miglia is 99 years old in 2026 – though even the reenactment of the famous Brescia-Rome-Brescia event is reaching its 44th installment this year, an illustration of its enduring popularity. Held over five days from the 9th to 13th of June, 400 cars are set to embark upon the route, and while it’s no longer the flat-out race it was in the days of Moss et al, participants of recent Mille Miglias will confirm that people still don’t hang about – the classic Alfas, Mercedes, Panhards and others are best experienced with your foot to the floor. The event is open to a specified list of pre-1957 cars, though you may see modern ones tagging along too. They’ll all have to be going some to match the Alfa Romeo 6C that’s won every event since 2020…
