Velocity Invitational

The Velocity Invitational bills itself as “California’s ultimate car culture weekend”. It’s got some stiff competition for that claim, given California’s also home to Monterey Car Week, but there’s no doubt the Velocity Invitational is an impressive event. Taking place at Sonoma Raceway from May 29-31, it pairs racing and car culture events, with the former this year including 1956-1962 production GT cars, ‘57-’63 Formula Junior, a Minis vs muscle car endurance race, B and C sedans, IMSA, ALMS, Historic NASCAR… pretty much everything you can think of, really. There are also supercar and hypercar displays, collections from the likes of the Petersen Museum, and of course numerous activities and places to eat. Tickets are selling fast; at the time of writing there are fewer than 100 general admission tickets left for each day, at $139 plus fees per day.
